Martin Walker is Senior Director of A.T. Kearney's Global Policy Council, a think-tank for CEOs of major corporations, based in Washington DC. He is an author and historian, a Senior Scholar of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington DC; a Senior Fellow of the World Policy Institute at the New School University in New York; and a Director of Global Panel, an international policy advisory body.
 
Walker served as bureau chief of The Guardian newspaper in Moscow and the US. He was awarded Britain's Reporter of the Year prize in 1987, and wrote and presented the BBC series 'Martin Walker's Russia', 'Clintonomics.' and has written for the New York Times, the Washington Post,  Foreign Policy, the New Yorker, The New Republic, The Times Literary Supplement, The Spectator, The National Interest, the American Interest, The Wilson Quarterly, Die Zeit of Germany, El Mundo of Spain, the Moscow Times and Moskovskii Novosti. He is also a regular broadcaster on the BBC, National Public Radio and CNN, and guest panelist on 'Inside Washington' for CBS-TV,  'The McLaughlin Show' for NBC-TV and 'White House Chronicle' on the Public Broadcasting Network.

He is a member of the Review Board of Chatham House, London's Royal Institute of International Affairs, and of President Vaclav Havel's Forum 2000 group. He has lectured on security issues at the Center for Naval Analyses in Washington DC, to the US Navy's Pacific Command in Honolulu, to US Central Command in Tampa, and to India's United Services Institute.

His books include The Cold War: A History, short-listed for Britain's book of the year prize and for Canada's Governor-General's prize. Walker also wrote The President They Deserve; the rise, falls and comebacks of Bill Clinton, and The Waking Giant: Gorbachev and Perestroika, which was translated into 11 languages, and Martin Walker's Russia, which became the BBC series. His most recent books are Makers of the American Century and The Iraq War, based on his coverage of the war for UPI. His historical novel The Caves of Perigord reached number 8 on the Washington Post best-seller list. Martin Walker was educated at Balliol College, Oxford, where he was Brackenbury scholar and took a first class honours in History, and at Kirkland House, Harvard, where he was Harkness Fellow and a resident tutor, studying international relations and economics.
